THE CHAMPIONS!

After 9 tumuluous seasons, countles near-misses and heartbreaking losses, Friday Office Hangover can now call themselves Federal Hill Thursday JV Kickball Champions! FOH won an improbable 4 games on Thursday night, knocking off the #11, #3, #2, and #1 seeds on theway to the championship.

Pitcher Bryan Derr shook off a rough first inning in the opening game in which he gave up 4 runs. He would only give up 6 more runs the rest of the night, as his pitching and defense combined with the rest of the team's defense to shut down every would-be threat. Center Fielder Rebecca Mackowiak made perhaps the catch of the season in the first game as FOH came back from the 4-0 deficit to win 7-4.

After prevailing in the quarterfinals and semifinals, FOH took on the Juiceheads in the finals. Not even their steroid-fueled intimidation tactics could sway the good guys on this night. The offense was scarce but came through in the clutch; a 4-2 victory sealed the championship and set off a wild celebration that carried on until the wee hours of the morning (see pitctures, below). Friday Office Hangover is in full effect on this glorious day.

Coach Steve-O accepted the trophy (a game-used kickball) and a crisp 50 dollar bill from the league commissioner as he wept tears of joy. Team founder and former coach Christine Cline was in a state of shock. "We've come a long way from the days we could only win games by a chug-off" she said, referring to the now-outlawed tiebreaking practice. "We've risen up from the bottom of the standings to JV champs, and I'm so proud of our team. Win or lose, we still booze. Last night, we won... and we boozed."

FOH finished first out of 64 teams, and will most likely be promoted to Varsity. New challenges lie ahead. But wherever you are on this day, play the video below over and over, and let it remind you that you are THE CHAMPIONS.
